Customer Relationship Management.
Buidling a relationship with your clients and prospect clients is important in any business.  It is no different but who manages the relatioship for a destination.  Keeping clients informed of upcoming events, promotions, e.t.c. 

This is now falling firmly in the court of the destination managers and some of the more innovative tourism businesses.  At a very base level CRM is simply keeping a mailing list of interested clients and mailing them on a regular basis to build a relationship with them.  

At an advanced level this includes complete user profiling so you can send suitable communications to suitable people.  Profiling by age, interest, family status, gender and much more.  You can then send appropriate communications to the appropriate people improving the results from your sales & markeitng activities.
